Dawei Sun & Ling Liu

For four seasons the womenswear line was directed by Belgium designer Cédric Charlier, now a Chinese duo Ling Liu and Dawei Sun are taking over the art direction at Cacharel. They will start their collaboration with Cacharel with Spring Summer 12 collection.

Ling Liu and Dawei Sun are by no means novices in the French and international fashion world.
They had both completed art studies prior to entering the Paris fashion school, L'Ecole de la Chambre Syndicale de la Couture, where they first met. They have a number of prestigious prizes to their name, together with work experience at the studios and workshops of the top Paris Couture houses.

Thirty-two year old Ling scooped the "Grand Prix du Trophées Saint Roch" in 2005 and started her career in Nicolas Ghesquière's team at the Balenciaga studio, then worked for Yves Saint Laurent, at Stefano Pilati's womenswear design studio and subsequently the menswear studio.

Twenty-nine-year old Dawei's talents were spotted when he won the 2004 Grand Prize in the "Young Fashion Designers" competition and the "PFAFF Creative prize". His professional career led him to work for Lolita Lempicka's design studio, then Balenciaga, and finally John Galliano's workshop and studio for more than 5 years.

Together they produce collections for the Belle Ninon brand, which they founded in 2009.

In April, Ling Liu and Dawei Sun won a prestigious jury prize at the 2011 ELLE New Talent Fashion Awards, a competition instigated by ELLE France magazine and the French Ministry for Culture and Communication with the aim of developing young fashion design.
